It's official

We've been posting about it and reading about, rumors have been flying for months, even years, but now it's official -- because Sean has signed the papers. This, from the Sharpe Appreciation Society:

The following is a statement made by the producers of "Sharpe" last week regarding the brand new film due to begin shooting in India shortly.

"Sean Bean is back as the swashbuckling hero in Sharpe's Challenge, an action packed mini-series to be shot on location in Rajasthan, India. Two years after the Duke of Wellington crushes Napoleon at Waterloo, dispatches from India tell of a local Maharaja, Khande Rao, who is threatening British interests there. Wellington sends Sharpe to investigate on what turns out to be his most dangerous mission to date. When a beautiful general's daughter is kidnapped by the Indian warlord, the tension mounts, leaving Sharpe no option but to pursue the enemy right into its deadly lair. Deep in the heart of enemy territory he also has to keep at bay the beautiful but scheming Regent, Madhuvanthi, who is out to seduce him.

The fate of an Empire and the life of a General's daughter lie in one man's hands...."

Epic in scale, this Sharpe will be shot on location in India with sumptuous fort and palace locations replete with all that exotic India has to offer plus stunning, nail-biting fight sequences featuring thousands of extras.

The filming will be a 2 part mini series for ITV which begins filming on 3rd November up until Christmas. It will also screen on BBC America and be sold around the world by BBC Worldwide.

A spokesman from Picture Palace Productions quotes "When we made the last film, "Sharpe's Waterloo", Sean Bean and ourselves really felt that we had made the last Sharpe. But seven years later we now find ourselves missing our favourite production and Sean is certainly very happy to come back on board. Sean has of course been busy making big Hollywood films since the last Sharpe, but he is very enthusiastic about resuming his role which is very special to him. He told me he can't wait to get started."

My hubby's comment to this was, Let's go to India and see if we can get a part in the movie! :-D

In other news, I got a flu shot today. My arm hurts. Think I'll go watch some Sharpe to take my mind off the pain (which isn't much, admittedly).
