Flashback Friday

When I began here at LJ we used to do "Flashback Fridays" so I thought I'd have a look and see what I was up to on this same date last year.  It made me laugh when I read what I was sharing on January 5, 2006:
I'm having one of those days where the call of the Boromir muse is louder than anything else, but I don't feel right about shirking my duty to other work to lose myself in Middle-earth. How irritating! ;-)

So, in order to be free to spend some time doing something fun and creative, I need to try to do the following:

- stop procrastinating and write some RW letters
- stop procrastinating and make some phone calls (one in particular is about an insurance problem that will just get worse if I don't take care of it)
- take down the tree and decorations and put the stuff away where we won't be tripping on it
- put some more stuff away so our place is less cluttered
- finish putting together some stuff that needs to be taken to the post office
- go to the library with books due today

Sheesh, hope I have some time for fun stuff. Maybe I'll procrastinate on some of these things...

Or better, I'll reward myself with no-guilt writing after I get at least 3 of these things done!

How amazing that except for the phone calls and library books, that list totally works for me today, just as well as it did last year!!  Should I be worried?  :-D  My response to this is:
  • go ahead and do what needs doing, but try not to be bound to my to-do lists to the extent of being perpetually peeved
  • write more Boromir more consistently, because I like writing and I like Boromir!!!  Looking back I see I only posted 6 chapters of Lords of Gondor last year -- that just criminal, you know?  *Boromir nods his head emphatically*
In other news, I'm feeling a bit puny since yesterday, but other than that, things are going well.  I went to WW yesterday and I have lost another 6/10 of a pound.  And I got my 16 week key chain thingy, that shows I've stuck with the program and attended 4 months worth of meetings!  Go me!

I'm still trying to really set up some good goals/resolutions/whatever you want to call them for this new year.  Thanks for everyone's input on my advice-seeking post!  I shall be replying to those great suggestions soon -- if you didnt see it, and want to make a suggestion, click here:

A good definition of goals that I think I shall find very helpful was shared at Weight Watcher's yesterday:

A winning outcome is a goal that is...
  • positive
  • specific
  • within your control
  • a good fit for your life
Have a positive day, my friends, where nothing it out of control!
