Well, that was quick!

My mom was in for a surprise this morning when she went to visit my dad in the hospital -- he was being discharged!!

Seems he really did have pneumonia, but was cured of it. The doctors were confused because the chest x rays had been showing something that looked like a problem still. The docs all got their heads together (along with a couple of specialists who were at hand) and confirmed a previous suspicion that my dad has scar tissue from hystoplasmosis (the thing you get from chickens/birds). So he was actually better, and didn't really need to go into the hospital -- but truly, it's better safe than sorry where he's concerned, especially since he has a real problem with chronic pneumonia.

He's quite pleased to be home and also is all ready to brag to his friends at the nature center he volunteered at -- where he likely came in contact with the birds (hawks and eagles, etc.) -- about his hystoplasmosis. A typical Dad response to an ailment, I might add -- more glee than concern. ;-)

Thanks so much for your prayers and concern and well-wishes. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as you feel led -- I want him to stay healthy for his 80th birthday and 50th wedding anniversary both coming up in June, within a day of each other. :-D The folks are going to fly me out to join them in the celebrations.
