What shall be my goals for this year?

I don't actually have any goals/resolutions formulated and on paper as yet, but I'm working on it.  I'm feeling good and I'm excited about how things have been going so far.  I know, I know, it's only January 2, lol!  But I had a good day of getting things done yesterday, and that's an encouraging way to begin the new year.

More later on that -- what I want now is to go with an odd thought I had just now, and ask for your help.  What do YOU think I should consider adding to the list as a goal or a resolution when making up my plans for the new year?

If you have any suggestions, thoughts, comments, advice, etc., please share it and don't be shy.  I am truly interested in knowing what you think.

Thanks for your help, my friends!

I love the "List of Doom" for all the obvious reasons, and I know it really very often feels like an overwhelming burden you are carrying through a desolate land, but since you are making today "Fellowship of the List" day I shall offer that it may be time for the List of Doom to have a new name or at least a new focus in 2007. What if the list was joyful rather than burdensome?

I can imagine what Tom Bombadil might do with such a list - laugh and disappear it into another dimension probably - and yet his list is always finished with a song and a light step. And Gildor would find the entire concept rather amusing because his focus is on the undying lands.

But we mortals do need our lists and disappearing them doesn't really accomplish anything (I have lots of experience with that) and the undying lands aren't getting any closer just by thinking about them. I guess I would like to carry (and see you carry) the List of Doom with a song and a light step and eyes fixed on Valinor.

Maybe we need some yellow boots.

*gets out her yellow boots*

Tom hummed happily to himself as he trod the invisible path that skirted the borders of his land, his own little country. His duty it was to be aware of what went on within his borders, and beyond. There were many feet that wandered in the world, and Tom must be ready if they wandered his way.

A good day's work, it had been; feet that wandered had been set straight, and evil had been thwarted. Yes, a good day's work!

And Tom trod the path, and watched his borders, and hummed as he went; and where Tom walked, evil crept away.

A good analogy, my friend! I knew you would have something thoughtful and insightful to share. ;-) I think the List of Doom would definitely be easier to bear with a little help from Tom.

That quote is from a tale of mine, btw: http://www.henneth-annun.net/stories/chapter.cfm?stid=5223
