I arrived at my folks' house in good time, but not without mishap. Due to bad westerly sun, I almost missed seeing a stopped vehicle on the highway which was waiting for oncoming traffice to pass in order to make a left turn. God prevailed, and I noticed in time to stop -- albeit very suddenly and very hard. Tragedy was handily averted, except to my cell phone. When everything not wearing seat belt flew forward, my open can of soda splashed into the neighboring cupholder which was holding my cell phone. All that sticky stuff was too much for it, I guess.
It is not totally a goner, if we can get it to the Verizon hospital at some point and see if there is anything they can do for it. That will have to wait until I get back home on Thursday, however. In the meantime, I've had to take the battery out of the phone, because it is confused as to what it is doing and keeps doing things I don't want it to -- like turning on the speaker phone, and turning on and off all by itself, complete with the requisite music and beeps at unexpected moments. :-/ But it gives me hope that there is still a useable phone in there somewhere. I've made a couple of calls on it, and it worked for that, but it is still rather temperamental at the moment.
I guess I would be, too, if I got dowsed with sticky soda.
