***Sigh***
I can't decide if I am irritated or relieved. :-/
Irritated, because my house is such a mess that I can't lay hands on my son's birth certificate -- which he needs in order to get his learner's permit. Irritated that I didn't look for it before the day I had planned to go with him to get said permit and irritated that I am such a wretched housekeeper. Irritated that I have spent fruitless hours searching when I could have been working on some of my imminently due projects. Irritated that it takes more legal documents and proofs of identity to get a simple thing like a learner's permit in this state than it does to get a residential visa to Pakistan!!
Relieved, because it means that if I can't find the document, I don't have to use my day off -- which I desperately need even if I use part of it for work-related stuff -- to go stand in line at the DOT (probably to discover my son doesn't have quite enough proofs of identity to do the job). Relieved, because I can get another birth certificate with only a little trouble, and that will also give me time to get our mission to write a letter in lieu of some of the other kinds of documents required for the purpose that my boy just doesn't have. Relieved, because I have decided to go against my nature and LET IT GO -- I won't go today, and I won't look for the certificate until I have time to do it in an orderly fashion by cleaning up. We'll just go another day, and recapture this day for what we want to do.
You know? These journals are pretty helpful as sounding boards -- having said all that, I am feeling much calmer. I now have new goals for today -- write some overdue emails, go for a walk because it is a lovely sunny day, work on some of my projects so I don't hyperventilate tomorrow, and do something just for me, to relax.
And put aside my irritation with myself and the state I live in -- not to mention the State I live in -- and enjoy the rest of the day! ;-)
