Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I wasn't expecting to know anything until tomorrow, but it seems the answer was pretty simple. My dad will NOT need a pacemaker, as the specialist has determined that it is medication that is the culprit. He has been on several meds for a number of years, and it has become known that these meds eventually have the effect of causing great fatigue and loss of energy.
They gave him all kinds of tests and such, and he passed with flying colors. His heart is in great shape for him and everything is working properly -- except his medication. They are taking him off three of them and when they are out of his system, they'll put him on one new one. He gets to go home tomorrow.
Do continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a bit longer, as it may take awhile for this change to take effect, and it may take some testing to find a new medication that will help and not hinder -- one that he is not allergic to!
