linaewen: (Boromir and Sam by Kasiopea)
... as I still feel great pressure with all that is going on in my life, and all the things I have to take care of with this and that and the other thing. I got some things done yesterday that I feel happy about, but not nearly enough!

However, there have been several nice breaks in the monotony!

- I took some "me" time yesterday and finished writing a Boromir chapter ('twill be up later when I finish whipping it into shape).
- I got a new monitor at work!!! It is a flat screen LCD monitor that works much better with my poor old eyes and trifocals. I am very pleased -- though my coworker who uses my computer sometimes doesn't like it quite as much. As with any LCD screen it tends to be blurry at times. But the glare is gone and the angle and position of the monitor is perfect for me -- and I'm in the office more often than she, so it works very well for me.
- I found out that I am actually ahead of schedule with the project I was trying to finish this week and I can actually slack off on it until Monday. Wheeee! I like to procrastinate without guilt when possible.

Another nice thing was an unexpectedly smooth transition on our home computer from our Access4Less ISP to Earthlink, this very morning. I thought we would have an interruption in service, but we are fine. We are waiting for the software to come in the mail so we can get set up properly, but we should be in good shape until then. All our information and accounts transferred as slick as you please, so I am impressed. And we only have to pay a few more dollars a month for the (forced) changeover.

One not so nice thing is that I am being plagued with a vague feeling of nausea and an ache in my upper back, shoulders and neck, that is quite irritating. I've had it since yesterday, and it bothered me most of the day, only relieved after I took a walk, to return a bit later. It is like the feeling I used to get back in Pakistan when I had malaria (I had it so many times that I stopped getting a fever with it). Come to think of it, it's actually VERY much like that feeling, and I have the dry eyes that go along with it, too. Hmmmmm, maybe I'm having a recurrence of malaria -- even after all this time. It happened last year, too, and I took some medication for it (which we providentially thought to bring home with us), and it helped. I might just have to try that tonight -- though I have to say, taking the medication is almost as bad as being sick! :-D

On that note, I guess I'll plunge into my day and see what I can accomplish, in spite of my aching bones. ;-)
