Morning!
Thought I'd better check in so you didn't think I'd gotten lost or anything. Here's what's happened so far on our vacation:
- all our straying luggage is present and accounted for
- we have a "new" car -- a Buick LeSabre, pretty nice!
- I attended two get-togethers as part of my 30th class reunion, and had the greatest time!
- Hubby preached two sermons on Sunday and we did a presentation about Pakistan at a church, with authentic snacks. It went well!
- Talked to my boy everyday on the phone; he's playing host to guests, in spite of being under the weather, poor baby. :-(
More on the reunion...
It really was enjoyable. There is something about the passage of 30 years that breaks down the "caste" system usually in place during the high school years. We all had something to say to one another and there wwere no inhibitions and everyone felt comfy with everyone else, whether we had been friends in HS or not.
My two closest friends were there, plus many others whom I was very happy to see and get reacquainted with. Everyone oohed and ahhed over my haircut, and thought I looked great (which was nice to hear), and everyone had lots of questions about Pakistan and our work there, which showed they have been interested enough to keep track of what we were doing.
Today we are getting organized for our camping trip which starts tomorrow. It's only for 3 days/2 nights, but we are really looking forward to pitching our tent on the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River and hiking in the woods and on the prairie. This state park has the best variety of hiking trails I've seen, IMHO! The weather is perfect -- it might even be a bit nippy at night! But I won't complain.
