One of my goals today was to steer clear of the computer as much as possible. Not a very measurable goal, perhaps, but necessary. Like I said in this morning's post, I am trying to find more balance in how I spend my time online and offline. Some days I wonder if it was good idea to get DSL, it makes it too easy to do more online -- not that it's bad to be able to communicate more and faster, but sometimes even that can be too much for all concerned. "A man finds joy in giving an apt reply — and how good is a timely word!" (Proverbs 15:23), but even so, too much of anything isn't necessarily a good thing! (That phrase always reminds me of something Captain Kirk said in "The Trouble with Tribbles"....)

Anyway, I was moderately successful. It was paper route day, so I was out with my son for a bit anyway, but while I was home I did useful things like clean the sink and tidy up and only a little computer stuff. Some of it was for RW projects, too. Go me!

Tomorrow, Hubby and I are driving over to visit my folks for the day, it's about a two hour drive. We will take some of our winter coats to store there, as we really don't have enough room here, and maybe some other bulky things, as well. My mom will FORCE me to do some of my laundry at her house. ;-) You know how mom's are, she insists I bring my laundry with me. It will save on quarters, I have to admit... Last time we visited it was so very relaxing, hope it turns out to be the same this time!

I know I haven't been replying consistently lately to everyone's posts, but I have been reading. I shall do my best to reply as I can while still remaining balanced. However, rest assured if there is need for an apt reply or a timely word, I'll try to be where I am needed.

Balance is my focus too, at the moment. I was given this piece of advice that I have taken to heart and it seems to create a very satisfying feeling at days end! I choose the five biggest priorities and make sure to spend time on each one every day even if it is just a little bit. There is no pressure that these things have to be attended to in any certain way and no unreasonable goals are allowed, just so long as each thing gets attention every day. So: 1. Prayer/Meditation; 2. Friends/Family; 3. Writing; 4. Exercise/Healthy Eating; 5. Reading. On the weekend I add a number 6. Pampering! It's pretty remarkable how well this is working for me so far and I have only been doing it since the start of March. All the things I thought I didn't have time for seem to be finding their place and time and I am mostly successful at completing the must-do's such as cleaning and showing up for work, lol.

I guess I am not actually recommending this so much as I am reporting my astonishment at how well it is working for me, lol, as well as commiserating that balance is something we all seem to be striving for.

*giggles* Parents are so unreasonable! Forcing you not to go to a laundromat...I mean really! The things we tolerate for love! What's next? Will they insist you eat while you're there, too? ;) I hope you all enjoy your day together!

That sounds like a plan then. I'll try working out something like that which will work with me, can't hurt.

I'm afraid my mom will be forcing me to eat two meals there. And I'll have to bring back all kinds of groceries, too, I'm sure. Hee!

A very sound idea. Balance is a constant struggle. Though that top five priority list sounds like a very good idea. I hope the day was lovely and relaxing. ~~ LHB
