After seeing what [livejournal.com profile] boriel and [livejournal.com profile] ansis came up with for icons of themselves, I had a go to see what I could come up with. It's not exactly right but it's not a bad likeness; the hair is perhaps better "controlled" in real life, but I liked this style, so there! :-)

Now to lose a few pounds so I do look like this, hehe!

Here is the site link and a few pointers on how to do it, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] boriel :

If you get an error page, it means it's had too many hits - just go back later...btw it's in german so you have to play with it a bit, and if you're on windows you can't right click to save as...you have to hit the 'print screen' key, then open a graphics program and paste into an empty document.

On the left side are two buttons: kopf and korper....kopf is for the head and face, korper is for the shoulders. If you want to make your face fatter - click on kopf, then click on grosse (right side, bottom) and there are two arrows...play around. You can also use grosse for making nose and mouth wider, thinner, longer etc.

You can change skin tone: kopf, then click farber again for skin colors.

Edited: After consulting my son, I have actually replaced the icon I originally created with a different version, which he says is more like me. I think I agree. Come to think of it, the first one looked like my sister! The old version is still visible inside... until I delete it to put up another Boromir icon!

Edited again: The old version is no longer available for viewing, we are stuck with this one for all time. :-)

This is actually a good exercise in editing LJ entrys. Hope no one is reading this while I edit!

I have been fooling around with this icon program but I can't figure out how to save it. Where is the "print screen" key? I am so bad at this stuff.

The Print Screen key is in different places on your commputer keyboard, but usually up top near the F keys, or to the right near the number pad.

I found that once I had the image the way I wanted it on my computer screen, I could click "print screen" (be sure your image has finished blinking or you will catch yourself with your eyes closed!), then I just had to open a new document in my graphics program (both Corel Draw and Adobe Photoshop worked) and clicked paste and it was in there. I had to select and trim the extraneous stuff as it printed the whole screen, then I saved THAT image as the one I wanted. It was a bit fussy, but I got it in the end!

Good luck, hope that was helpful and not too confusing!

Thanks, I'm looking at the key as we speak. I will try it at work but I doubt their graphics program is good enough. I have photoshop at home so I will try it there. Thanks again:)
