linaewen: (Pooh Thoughtful)
I'm curious to see what folks think about something.  I uploaded the user icon found below, as it impressed me immediately in a certain way.  Now I am wondering if other people see it in the same way as I do.

So, tell me what you think -- how does this icon impress you?  Is it sad?  Happy?  Hopeful?  Gloomy?  Anything you want to share about it, please do, I'm totally curious!  I'll let you know my impression of it after I get some good feedback.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.  It's looking like October again here, instead of late November, and I think we will be seeing some slightly warmer temperatures today.  Whether we do or don't, the sun is shining and that is enough for me.  ;-)

It's hopeful to me- like the light at the end of the tunnel- the door out of the gloomy cobwebby basement.

Good, that's what it is to me, too -- a door opening into the welcoming light.

Nostalgia. Peace. Expectation.

Good words! It makes me think of coming in from outside into light and warmth.

Hope you are feeling a bit better!

I think it looks kind of peaceful and hopeful, with the light coming into the dark room.

I think so, too; that light is very inviting, isn't it?

the first two words that came to my mind about the icon were;
invocative
Springtime

I find it Hopeful indeed not gloomy at all.

It's definitely hopeful, isn't it? Yes, Lazarus came to my mind as well!

I find this very comforting and comfortable. I like the dark better than the light (rain over sun, winter over summer). I suspect I know where this comes from; it's no doubt because gloomy grey signals the fact that it's cold, and all the things that trigger my allergies and asthma are gone, so I can actually breathe. Anyway, I like the fact the room isn't fully lit. I'd be curled up in a corner with a big comforter. But luckily there's enough light coming in that I could read by it. :) Perfect! TMI, I suspect, but that's my first reaction to it.

Ah, another asthma sufferer! I don't breathe as well in the cold, unfortunately. ;-)

I find it a comfortable kind of picture, too. The darkeness isn't too dark, and if one needs more light, the door is open and inviting.

Hopeful ! An open door, inviting to get out of that dark room, a promise. A bit like the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel but with a different quality. A tunnel alwas has an end where you get out whereas a room can be shut - a trap, a prison.

And now I will read what others think about it ;-)

Ah, that is well said! I think that, too -- it is a way out of the darkness into the light.

*hugs*

To me it has an ever so slight melancholy, but not in a depressing way -- rather, in the way that there has been melancholy that is now being washed away by hope, embodied in the light in the door.

I like it very much. I should like to go through that door.

That is a beautiful way of saying it! Yes, the lighted door represents hope to me, too.

I actually love the icon, It is not really happy or sad, it puts me in a contemplative mood. You know those times we all need to reflect on our lives, where we've been, where we are, and where we are going. Yes, it really does say all that to me. I may actually borrow it in the future. When I am in my reflective, contemplative moods.

You are welcome to use it anytime you like! It was made by wizzicons so just credit her if you use it. I like what it makes you think of -- I think it is a good icon, too.

I LOVE it. You could either look at it as going away from the light, down the steps, into darkness. Or vice versa: up the steps into the light. I would go up the steps. :)

*hugs you back*

That is a good way of looking at it! I, too, would go up the steps. I see it as coming out of the cold dark and into the warm light.

I see it as a sign of hope. Like I have been sitting in a basement for long enough when a friend opens the door to help me into the light.

Come on up out of that basement, my friend!

I see it as hopeful, too -- I'm glad everyone agrees with me! My son put me in doubt for a bit when he first saw it, that's why I wanted to check with others.
