I need a nap
May. 21st, 2004 11:42 amHaving a house full of guests is wearing, even when hospitality is my main job and one I enjoy doing. All of them are wonderful young people (preparing for short-term trips overseas), and one is even a coworker from Pakistan, just back from the field for a year. But it is still wearing to have people under foot after a long day at the office. I'm glad we have three bathrooms in the house!! The hardest part is there is no way to really keep to a proper schedule when there are 11 people in the house all doing different things, and that makes for disruptions in the routine, and that is also wearing.
This situation will end on Sunday, and then we'll be quiet for a bit; but we'll have a full house at intervals over the next two months, along with smaller groups and individuals coming and going.
Today I am driving to the Philly airport to put one of the guests on a plane -- a 3 hour round trip, if the traffic isn't too bad. I'll be driving the mission minivan, which is nice, but I'm not quite used to it. Then tomorrow I get to do the same in the early morning, to a different airport that is closer. Hope the rain stops for a change! It's been a yucky wet muggy week this week.
Can't have a nap -- since I am supposed to be working -- so I guess I'll have a cup of coffee instead.
