Last day home, then time to go home
Dec. 28th, 2004 08:15 amAfter a good twenty years on the mission field, it's hard to define the word "home." Sometimes it is the place you grew up in, the place where your parents are, the place where you are currently NOT but wish you were. Sometimes it is the place where your stuff is. That's what is confusing for us, our stuff is in more than one place! And none of those places are owned by us.
Well, we've been home (to my childhood home) and it's been good. Today's our last day here, and I have lots planned -- breakfast and coffee with my best friend since 6th grade, shopping and driving lessons with my son, last minute chatting with the folks, and finding all the "stuff" that is stored here that I want to take with me and store in my other "home."
I had a great visit with Solodancer and ToriTook yesterday -- which included a brief chat with Madamenorthstar, which was an unexpected pleasure! [I also enjoyed a wee chat with Pippinswolf the other day; she was checking to be sure I had managed to plow through the snow of Ohio and make it all the way to Wisconsin. ;-)]
My day with Solodancer included me getting to touch and page through the Scrapbook!! Gorgeously beautiful, it is! It is thrilling to think of PJ having a copy as well, and reading the things we wrote that are so beautifully displayed. We also saw Phantom of the Opera -- wow, is that ever a great movie!
A shopping discovery I made yesterday was a new Boromir toy I didn't know about, hehe -- a new figure in the Armies of Middle-earth set. He has the sweetest expression of dismay on his face -- I believe the pose is supposed to be Boromir fighting the Cave Troll with Gimli and Legolas (it comes with those two, but no Cave Troll, worse luck!)
Time to go meet my friend! I'll catch up again later!
