How quickly plans change
Jan. 25th, 2005 08:56 amMy plan was to go in to the office for a bit to do some printing to aid me in the writing job I planned to finish at home. But this morning, one of our venerable guests (a member of the board of directors, no less!) took a header down our stairs -- because of our rennoavations the carpet had been removed on one stair and he missed it and fell. We feel like major doofuses, of course -- like it was our fault, or something, because we removed the carpet on the stair in that one spot. I plied him with Ibuprofen and Aspercreme, and he seems to be in pretty good shape, but is stiffening up a bit. :-/ Now I am in a state of fear that his wife, who is hanging out here this morning, will do the same. So I am staying home (which I ought to be able to do today anyway, since it's my day off, but as usual I have a job that needs doing and doesn't recognize days off). I will watch her like a hawk until I can tell her to be very careful of that step!
I shall have to step back regroup, I think. A new plan is in order -- already I can see the possibilities and advantages of staying home for the day...
