Finally a minute to update
May. 27th, 2005 03:57 pmI've had a busy day at the office today, trying to finish up a bunch of projects before I leave next week for Wisconsin. I have Monday off for Memorial Day, so I am not scheduled to return to work until after I get back from my trip -- but I may come in for a bit on Tuesday morning, just to finish up work on a rather dull and ornery article I am editing. It's the kind of thing that one can't do all in one go, it's just has too many little problems with it!
Other than that, though, I have gotten everything done, so I am pretty pleased with myself.
I had a great evening last night, with everyone out and the house quiet -- even though I spent part of it dealing with a security issue with our new ISP. The server we were using shifted us to another one, and when we got our new software in the mail yesterday, the letter with our username and password was someone else's! Which means someone else got OUR username and password -- which gives them total access to our email and billing information. So I spent much time getting the password changed so that it would work and alerting the folks at Earthlink about the situation -- both over the phone (which helped, but not enough) and then through an online help chat, which really worked well and fixed the problem. In spite of the fact that they messed up big time, I am impressed with how they dealt with it and that they were able to fix it, and I also like all the options they have for accessing help that is helpful.
I also got some Boromir writing done, so it wasn't a wasted evening. ;-) Not enough, though, so I'm trying again for some time tonight. It won't be quiet, but I might still be able to find some time to myself.
The rest of the work crew moves in to the house tonight, so we'll have them 24/7 -- but they'll get more work done that way. I have to admit, I'm getting so that I don't mind as much having them around. We'll see if I feel the same after the weekend! ;-)
