linaewen: (Red Raspberries)
Today my goal is to balance taking it easy with getting things done.  There must be a way to do both and be content with the results!

We have one outing planned for the day -- this evening is a symphony concert in one of the many parks here in town, so Hubby and I will be in attendance, as long as it is not rained out.  We can always run into the nearby library if a storm passes through, that would be relaxing also!  Hubby has been an eager beaver this long weekend, trying to get me to go out in the heat and do everything there is to do out there with all the holiday events.  I've tried to balance that involvement so I don't get all worn out -- he always has more energy than I do, and more staying power in the sun.  ;-)  It's going to be hot tonight, too, but a symphony is one thing I'm willing to brave the elements for!

In addition to my usual long list of Doom-inducing things to do, I have a couple of projects that have to be attempted soon so that I will be prepared for events coming up later this month.  One of those events involves cooking for 50 or so people at a mission training event.  Hubby will be involved in that as well.  I think I remember having a folder of meal plans from last time I did this kind of cooking spree -- maybe I can find it if I buckle down and apply myself to the "sorting papers" part of my List of Doom!

And what, you might ask, does my icon have to do with all this?  The answer is this -- in the course of doing something necessary this weekend (walking to the store to buy some groceries), I took a shortcut through the woods and found a massive amount of raspberries growing, and they were ripe, too!  I happen to have a passion for raspberries, particularly fresh ones.  Mmmmmm!  On my return trip from the store, I stopped and picked as many as I could reach without hurting myself on the briars.  ;-)  It was my lesson for the day that sometimes in doing a tedious thing one is rewarded by something fun and unexpected.  I'm hoping for more of that today, as I do my best to balance the necessary with that which is relaxing.  And maybe I'll send my energetic Hubby out to pick more raspberries!

In nonraspberry-related news, there is some exciting Sean Bean news out there, concerning a new film project,  Come Like Shadows.  The info is here:

I pray everyone has a day where they can manage some time for themselves that is rewarding, in the midst of the bustle -- may you find an unexpected raspberry patch today!
