Our day with no computer and no tv...
Jul. 13th, 2006 07:39 am... was a day well spent.
Yesterday was our tech-free day -- at least as far as computer and television went. It was a very good day! I got so much done, I amazed myself! There were a couple of times when I thought, "oh, wouldn't it be nice to sit at the computer for a moment." But I did something else instead, and it wasn't even painful. So the tech-free day will be repeated every week, on Wednesdays, and in addition, I think I will assign myself some computer-free hours during each day when the computer goes off, and stays off, so I can concentrate on other things. It will help me plan my schedule better, too, I bet.
This morning we are having to plan our schedule around a power outage, that is due to happen in about 45 minutes. Guess they are doing some electrical work in the neighborhood. The electricity will probably be off for about 4 hours this morning. We won't notice it much, as we are driving down to Chicago to meet a good friend for lunch. DS will be in more of a pickle, though, so he is planning on spending the morning at the library, where there is at least air conditioning!
We used to have power outages all the time in Pakistan, but we were never warned when they would happen, and sometimes they lasted all day! Which reminds me, I better go make breakfast on my electric stove while I can....
