A hard choice
Sep. 25th, 2006 09:24 pmI'm really tired this evening! House shopping is wearying work!
We saw three houses this morning, and one of them was decent -- so now we have three houses on our list of possibilities and
we don't know which one to choose!! Each one has good things and less good things about them, none of which is quite enough to tip the scales in either direction. Even the price isn't quite enough to make us decide against one, or choose one over the other. Ugh!
We are going to go back and see each one of our favorites on Wednesday morning, and look at certain things that are important to us. For instance, they are all older houses -- two are 86 years old, and one is 96 -- so DH wants to look at whether the door knobs turn and
latch properly, that sort of thing. We also want to measure all the bedrooms instead of trusting what is written in the fliers, we want to look at how easily remodeling might take place in rooms that might need it, and relook at what things might have to be fixed/changed right away or can be put on the "someday when we have the money" list.
Afterwards, we will have to make a choice; hopefully our lists will help guide us.
Hard to believe that a month ago we had not even dreamed we would be the imminent owners of actual real estate!
In many ways, the house I called my dream house is stilI at the top of the list for me -- but I have to see it again to be sure, and to see if I can explain why I choose it over the others -- the same goes for DH, he has to be able to explain what makes one better for him than another. Hubby keeps coming up with good solid reasons why my choice isn't his first choice -- and yet it's still in the running, because it seems to be the best buy for the money. In the end, I don't think I will be unhappy in any of the houses we have to choose from, which is comforting!
Lots to pray about, as we come up on making a final, big decision.
Tomorrow we are out of town to visit with my parents for the day; it's been ages since we saw them last, so a visit is long overdue. Even though we both still have coughs, we are no longer contagious, so it's safe!
