A wee tour
Oct. 7th, 2006 05:14 pmLast night I dreamed I was back in Pakistan, and I was very happy to be going back to "my house" -- but when I got there I discovered it had hard wood floors, instead of marble. I'm taking that as a positive sign that I'm going to feel very much at home in my new place!
In my dream, I was also frustrated because I was outside in public without my head covering and wondered what on earth I was thinking... but that has nothing to do with the house, hee!
Anyway... I had a chance on Friday morning to take a few pictures of the inside of the Lin Mahal, while Hubby and the house inspector were wandering about inspecting. This will give you some idea of what it looks like, though I didn't get a picture of every room.
The inspection revealed a number of things that need work, but nothing really major that we didn't already plan on dealing with as part of some remodeling. However, a couple of the jobs need to be done forthwith, so we are negotiating with the seller to give us a check as part of the settlement so we can make the repairs. In a sense we are reducing what he'll get paid by a sum, but it's reasonable, so it should go through quickly. If that is agreed to, then we could be closing by midmonth! That will give us a whole month and a half to do some remodeling before we have to be out of our apartment.
Which is good, because I've barely begun with the sorting that must take place in order to begin packing! Which I'll be trying to do while thinking about paint colors and curtains, listening to Hubby tell me aaaaaaaaallllllll about exactly how he's going to repair the dip in the floorboards, and dealing with day to day life that happens whether one is trying to pack or not. :-D
