Who will carry water?
Jun. 18th, 2007 09:29 amMy hubby and I were laughing yesterday as we both recalled some Urdu proverbs that applied to the day -- they both mean the same thing, essentially.
I had a busy week last week, much of it being spent out of town. I am looking forward to a quieter week this week, one of staying home and getting caught up on all the things that didn't get attended to while I was out and about. I fear to mention the word List, but I really need to make one, so I don't forget what is important and past due, as well working up a companion to the List -- the Schedule. I don't think I'll get everything managed properly otherwise. ;-) But Flexibility shall rule both!
Have a good Monday, my dears!
"Mai bhi raja, tu bhi raja -- kaun bajaega baja?" I am king, you are king -- so who will play the drum?
"Mai bhi rani tu bhi rani -- kaun bharhega pani?" I am queen, you are queen -- so who will carry water? The fact that it was both Father's Day (so Hubby was King) and my 50th birthday (so I was Queen) made it awkward at times to decide who was the boss in deciding who was to be honored yesterday. As it implies in the proverb, if both of us are kings or queens, then who is left to serve us? :-D We managed a compromise in the end, so that we both felt we got something out of the day, and were sufficiently honored. I got more cards and birthday greetings -- and gifts -- than Hubby did for Father's Day, so I guess the Queen wins this round. Not that it's a contest, lol! Hubby will have his 50th in another few weeks, so he can be King again then.
