A sudden decision

I was thinking yesterday about how long it had been since I had seen my folks, and a couple of things came to mind that I could do when I visited them -- so I decided on the spur of the moment, why not just do it?

So here I am.  I made all the arrangements yesterday to get free for a couple of days, and took off this morning and drove here.  The drive was lovely and relaxing -- fall is beginning here in southern Wisconsin, so it was a great day for driving.  I got to my parents' house in time for lunch, then it was off to meet my best friend from school days for a second lunch and mega cups of coffee.  We talked a mile a minute and got all caught up.

I'm going to hang out at the old homestead tonight, then tomorrow I think I'll do some shopping and touring around town, visiting my aunt and a couple of other people while I'm out and about.  I'll head home on Friday.

The folks go to bed fairly early, so I'll have some nice quiet time to myself, which will be very nice.  I hadn't realized that I was feeling the need for some time away just on my own, so I'm glad this worked out.

Hope two nights away is enough!  :-D
