Another country heard from
Nov. 12th, 2007 09:31 amSo, I guess I haven't updated for almost a week, have I? Let's see if I can remember what all happened this past week...
- I was under the weather this weekend with a cold that couldn't quite decide if it was going to come on or not -- I think I have convinced it to go away and not bother me, but only after laying low all weekend and taking lots of Vitamin C. I've never been really sure whether Vitamin C actually helps make a cold go away, but I think I am now. It has made the difference several times recently!
- It's to be something like 60 degrees today, somehow that seems just wrong for November! Oh, well, might as well take advantage of it and get outside and do some fun things -- I can't decide between just plain going for a walk or raking leaves. We have some lovely piles that have fallen recently, and I really do enjoy raking. Gone are the days when I used to rake them up and jump in them, but I do still love kicking through a big rustly pile!
- My DS's new computer finally came and the stolen coin collection we got in place of the first one has been returned. If I'm not mistaken, Dell is hot in pursuit of someone at one of the DHL facilities through which the first shipment passed. Interestingly enough, they sent the new shipment via a different route. So the new Dell laptop is a beauty, and DS had been most kind to let his old mom and dad fiddle with it a bit. We are slowly shopping for a new laptop ourselves, so it's helpful to play around with it and see what features we want or don't want in ours.
- The furnace is working well now -- or it would be if it wasn't too warm to run it! -- with no stinkiness.
- I have less than two weeks to whip my house into shape so I can present it neat and clean to my family when they come for Thanksgiving. I have been letting things slide a bit as far as keeping things put away goes, so there are a few messes here and there. I hope it's safe to admit that I am not a perfect housekeeper! :-D I used to be such a neatnick when I was young, but I have regressed a bit, I think. I also got in the habit of not dusting when I lived in Pakistan, because what was the point of wearing myself out dusting three times a day and having it still look like I had done nothing? Now that I'm here, I have to keep reminding myself that dusting is a good thing to do, lol!
