Thinking Ahead
Jan. 14th, 2008 10:15 amIt doesn't take much for Cheeseheads to go from this --
-- to making big plans for Super Bowl Sunday. Packer fans actually start hopeful planning for that game well in advance every year -- like during the preseason! But this year, there's now only one game between us and Super Bowl XLII in Arizona, and we're all trying not to squee in the face of our neighbors who might be Vikings fans or Bears fans. We are planning ahead to make sure nothing else is on the schedule for that day.
Just this morning, however, I pointed out to my DH that the weekend cross-country ski trip with the pastor and elders of our church that he has been looking forward to so much is happening over Super Bowl weekend. Now he is in a tizzy trying to plan ahead -- he wants his skis and male bonding and his Super Bowl, too, especially if the Packers are in. I have a feeling that none of the guys at church actually thought of that fact ahead of time, because even though all Packer Backers expect their team to go to the Super Bowl every year, no one actually checks ahead to see what the date of it is! So he's going to call up the pastor (a Cheesehead of the highest quality) to find out if there are plans for bonding in front of a television screen on February 3rd. :-D
Maybe I'll end up recording it for Hubby to watch later -- which is what happened to me when the Pack last went to the Super Bowl. We lived overseas at the time, and while we had a tv, we had no way to receive the game. So Hubby traveled to visit a friend in another city who had a tv and dish antennae so he could watch the game. He recorded it for me, then called up to find out if I wanted to know who won before I saw the game on video. ;-)
We beat the Patriots in that game, as I recall...
In other nonPacker news, I am enmeshed in doing annual reports today, but I am hopeful that I'll have them finished and away by the end of the day. That will be nice!
