linaewen: (Bear Sad by wizzicons)
Well, we kind of had a blizzard last night, though we didn't get tons of snow.  It blew quite a bit, though, so I'm glad I wasnt out in it.  Still, though it wasn't tons, the snow we got overnight weighed a ton by the time we got out to shovel it.  It was warm enough this morning that it was already melting and getting heavier by the second, ugh!

The man across the street with the snow blower came over before we got our boots on and had cleared half of the walk on both sides of the corner as well as our driveway by the time we got out with our shovels.  *kisses him muchly, figuratively speaking*  But there was still plenty of clearing to do, especially after the snowplow came through.  We live on a corner and have a looooong walk on one side that is our lot, and a longish one on the other side, at the front.  It is lovely having a nice amount of yard, but  when it comes to shoveling... ugh, a second time.  We have a bus stop near us, so there are pedestrians who need to get through, and we are responsible for keeping the walk clear.  Then there is our double-width driveway...

Anyway, I basically had a workout this morning, heavy-duty weight lifting for almost an hour.  Now I shall take it easy for the rest of the day, since church was cancelled.  I shall go make a sustaining second breakfast as soon as I get the strength back in my arms.

I think there is more snow coming later today and tomorrow -- but right now it is raining!!  Which is why I chose the above icon -- and because I couldn't wait for a "sad" day to use it!  :-D  GIP!

Snow's coming our way later today. Ugh. Hopefully that'll mean work will be slow tonight.

Love you! Miss you!

I have been contemplating going out and starting the snow removal process with my snowblower (may it start forever) and my trusty shovel. But its still coming down so heavy it would be pointless. I'm not sure how much snow we have - its got to be a foot or more already - but its blowing and drifting so much who can tell?

I need Boromir and Aragorn to show up and plow their way through it. Though a couple of dogs are doing a pretty good job in the back yard...

Oh I just love him peeking out the window. It is a rainy dreary day here, and he is very appropriate.

What a nice neighbor looking out for you that way! But I am glad you will plan on recuperating the rest of the day, since I do recall what hefting heavy shovelfuls of snow can do to one, even though I have been ten years away from serious snowfall.

*hugs my tired Lin*

hope you didn't over do it!

I know hubby bought you that new shovel, and all, but I would hate for you to aggravate your back again.

Hopefully no more snow came your way!

*hugs you tight*

Oh, such a cute sad/rainy icon. ((((((Lin)))))). Shoveling snow must be so hard!

Roses

A somewhat gloomy day here although we were able to go to the nursery and buy some roses for our new garden: three, all David Austen: William Shakesspeare (red), Fair Bianca (white), Abraham Derby (my favorite -- a yellow/pink/orange cream color).

No snow, but cold enough that the tree rats are running rampant in our attic and walls. A strange SoCal winter in our new home....
