Abraham Lincoln once said, "The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time."  There are days when I am very glad of that, and wish those days would pass slowly so the future wouldn't come just yet because I'm not ready!

However, I usually don't mind that it comes as it comes, because I often am looking forward to something that I am eager to have arrive.  I was thinking this morning that there are quite a few things I am looking forward to in the coming days, even as I cherish each period of 24 hours and will them to go by slowly so that I have more time to work on my projects, lol!

Just for fun, I thought I'd list some of the things I am looking forward to with eager anticipation:
  • some "me" time today, after I finish up a project I'm determined to complete -- I plan to spend it writing, and if I have to go somewhere to get away from people to do it, I will!  Knowing I have planned some quiet time for myself gives me energy to work through the other, more boring stuff.  ;-)
  • being done with my dental work -- after Friday, when I am having one more bout with the dentist, I should be free of that for a time.  That will be a good thing.
  • camping -- we are hoping to go camping this month, before the mosquitos get going.  We were actually going to try it this Sunday and Monday night, but then we decided not to, because of rain predictions.  In the end, there was no rain, but it was a bit too cold for fun camping, so we'll put it off a week or so.
  • my "twin time" with my sister  -- she has a birthday coming up towards the end of the month, and then we are the same age for about 3 weeks.  We are going to get together to do something sisterly; don't know what yet, but it will involve getting away so that it's just the two of us!
  • church canoe trip -- we did this last year, and it was great fun, even though I severely bruised my leg in the process that had me in rather a bad way for an inordinately long time.  I shall avoid that mishap this time, and enjoy the day out on the water with hubby and friends.  I am normally nervous around water, but the Sugar River is one where all you have to do is stand up if you fall in.  ;-)
  • attending the annual Gymanfa Ganu with my aunt -- we are of Welsh heritage, and we have both enjoyed attending these hymn sings.  In case you don't know what it is, a Cymanfa Ganu (pronounced cuh-MAN-va GA-nee, plural in Welsh cymanfaoedd canu), is a Welsh festival of sacred hymns, sung with four part harmony by a congregation.  Many of the hymns can be traced back to the 12th century.
Well, that's probably enough anticipation for one day.  If I look forward too far, I won't be able to concentrate on what I have to do today!

May all my friends have similarly pleasant things to look forward to in that future that comes only one day at a time.  Hugs to all!!!!

(((Lin))) back*

Nice to have things to look forward to. I'm looking forward to my own dentist appointment later this week. Finally FINALLY going to get my broken toofus fixed, so I can stop looking like Snaggletooth! lol! I know Dr. Hal won't hurt me too much!

Its always a great thing to have things to look forward - and a list that isn't full of things you need to do or haven't done! I myself am looking forward to some quality time with the videos that Dabs sent me, and working on sorting through stuff before we move...which is actually kind of relaxing in itself. *hugs you*

Oh, wonderful that you get to go camping soon! Do you use a tent or a trailer? I really enjoy camping but haven't gone for several years. However, in June I'm going to a lake and stay in a cabin for a week... it's not the same but it's close! :)

The thing I'm looking forward to the most right now is the end of the school year! I think there are about 22 days left and I think the staff are as excited as the kids. :) I have so much to do and teach them, though. Plus trying to get all of the books returned to the library... that's always fun. (not really!)

Those are great things to look forward to, (((((Lin)))))). The Cymanfa Ganu sounds really wonderful. Twin time, camping, canoe, me time, and being done with the dentist are good, too.

Oooh, this sounds so very lovely and interesting. Do you sing from hymn books or sheets? I would love to see the music and maybe do something for the harp with it. Are there recordings of this music anywhere?

Fascinated....
