That's the "official" term for what's happening outside at the moment.  Snow mixed with sleet, and freezing rain to top it off, which has resulted in an ice storm warning.  It's just getting started here, so it's not too bad at the moment, but we are not planning on going anywhere in our car if we can avoid it!

In other chota mota, I had a physical yesterday, and assuming all my blood work comes back clear, I have been pronounced excellently healthy.  My BP is the best it's ever been since I started taking pills for it, and my asthma is pretty much under control as well.  Of course, I have a colonoscopy to look forward to in the new year, but no matter.  ;-)

The earache I was having turns out not to be anything serious, and it is already getting better.  It's one of those things you get during cold wintry days that goes away on its own.  Whew!

Plans for the day include:
  • writing a report
  • writing a newsletter
  • Christmas cards
  • find the Christmas tree in the attic and get it out
  • make Christmas cookies for the "decorating the tree" activity
  • brave the elements to buy milk
One sad note for the day -- our coffee pot made coffee this morning, then proceeded to give up the ghost, so we are now without a coffeemaker.  We do have a few alternatives that will get us by for the time being, but it looks like we'll have to buy ourselves a new one for Christmas.  Now if I can just convince Hubby to actually get a new one and not go for the thrift shop variety....  ;-)

ETA:  It's still weird weather out there, but I'm not sure it's going to be as bad as they thought.  We'll see!

ETA2:
Hubby fixed the coffee pot.  Not sure if I'm happy or disappointed, lol!

ETA3:
Haven't gotten anything useful done yet today -- but who cares?  Not I!  ;-)

You set yourself a pretty substantial list today! I hope it's going really well. You've been more silent than usual and I have been hoping it is just busy-ness and a natural ebb to your online time rather than anything to be concerned about. Let me know if I am mistaken, though, ok?

Be safe in the Wintry Mix if you have to go out!

Don't buy a new coffee maker yet if you can stand to wait. LOL! I ordered a report for Ken a few weeks ago for his Christmas present. It's from American Test Kitchens and they rate kitchen related products each year. They are often able to weed through all the pricey alternatives and find what really does the job for the most economical price. When it gets here I will peruse the coffee maker listings.

What is your alternative? Do you have a stovetop percolater? I think I am going to take my mother's next time I am in NY. It was well made, so it's probably as good as ever. Dad won't miss it, lol.

All is well here, no need for concern. It was just a pretty busy last couple of days, with relatives visiting and functions at church and such, so I really didn't have a chance to even reply to posts, let alone post myself. I was reading, though, and figured I'd be able to catch up eventually.

The coffee maker has been repaired, but we don't trust it any more, so we are still in the market for a new one. That would be great to have some clue as to what is good yet economical. We have a coffee press for emergencies, which works well with small batches. We used to have the most excellent aluminum drip coffee pot, but Doug didn't bring it back from Pakistan, so it is still over there. I'm fetching it back if I get over there next year!

It's not too bad here with the wintry mix, considering what they were predicting, so that's a blessing. Even with not going out, though, I'm not getting much done. Not sure why, I'm just lollygagging around the house. But it's enjoyable lollygagging, hehe!

Oh, I'm glad your Dr. visit went well, dear Lin. I hope the bloodwork is clear.

You know you can get a coffeepot for under $15 if you get a cheap new one. Also, around here, they have this "cool brew" stuff. It is concentrated coffee and you mix it with water or milk and can heat it up or ice it. It makes better iced coffee than hot coffee but no need for a coffeepot. :?)

((((((Lin)))))).

Oooh! Oooh! Stay safe in the weather. It has been unseasonably hot here, pushing 80F for the past few days. That means I get to drive home in the fog. :?P I wouldn't know how to deal with ice and snow.

The restaurant was DEAD yesterday due to the dire weather warnings, but I don't think the roads ever got as bad as the warnings said. Aaron didn't have school yesterday because of the roads. He loved that.

I do love the way the trees look when it's been like this though. They look like they're made of glass. I need to try to take a picture for Tori.

(sorry I've been so absent lately, gonna try to remedy that)
