linaewen: (My White Tower by John Howe)
I'm thinking of changing my default icon -- is this new one a better icon to depict my White Tower, or is my current one better?

The current one looks like this:

And while I have you... what do you think of this as an icon?

that new White Tower is a pretty awesome pic! I like them both... maybe you can rotate them?

the bracers are cool... I'd like to see the fellow(s) that wear them, too! (I can't help it... slave to my hormones!)

The new one is definitely a more powerful image I think I like it better.
Sadly I have no idea what the items on the other Icon are.

Sorry, didn't even think of that! Those are the bracers/armguards worn by Boromir in the LOTR movie.

Yes, they look do better on the arms of our heros, don't they?

I like the new one much better. And, I like the bracers too.

I vote

I like the white tower. How do you get a picture up?

I like the new one best, myself - its very striking, somehow. And the vambraces are very symbolic of B., so they would be a good choice for your icon set, too.

i like the new white tower much better, simply because it is clearer, more forceful and not so much a thought or whisper of a white tower, but a true image.

as for teh bracers, i have to beg to differ. i've seen these ones alot (research) and dont like them at all = its the color - its off. too orangey brown. i think there is a better pic somewhere on the dvd's - its just a matter of finding it and cleaning it up. too bad its strider who has them on at the end of fotr...mind yu, there is a good shot where boromir is gathering wood in fotr, and there is a good shot where aragorn puts his arm on gimli too.

sorry to be a stick in the mud, but i always go against the flow :D

I like the new one

Hey, Lin. I like all three but I think I like the new one of the tower best! Very powerful.

I like the new one best. I love the old one too, but this new one is very powerful, very beautiful. And I like the bracers too - though your sword and horn icon is still a great favorite of mine. ;)

That's the kind of advice I needed as much -- why you like what you like, and vice versa! I'm glad you concur on the Tower, I like the new one better, too. As for the bracers, I'm glad you are going against the flow, because you are able to point out what was bothering me about them. I shall go in search of the "real thing"!

Yes, I like the symbolism of the bracers, I think I might look for a different shot of them though.

I totally love that icon!!! Where did you get it? May I use it as well?

Why, thanks! I love that sword/horn icon as well. I had a couple of them I was using, but I have narrowed it down to this one. It's from an exhibit entitled "Gondor" -- Boromir's horn and Aragorn's sword. ;-)

Thanks! I've made the switch upon everyone's advice -- which agrees with my own preferences, too. :-D

Thanks, dear! May I say, I love the color of those leaves in your icon. Is that an old church or a schoolhouse in the picture?

Thanks!

I shall answer your question on how to get a picture up, but I have a meeting now that I have to go to. Until I get back to you, here is a link to the LJ help info on the subject:

The tower close-up is much more powerful an image, nice!

I think a close-up of just one of the bracers while on the arm of a character would be more powerful than empty ones... the empty bracers are strange and confusing unless you explain what they are... not an effective icon.

Thanks! You're right about the bracers. Something about them appealed to me when I first saw them like that, but now that I have an icon made of them, it's not "right." I'm going to look for a better view -- on someone's arm would be best, wouldn't it?

Ha, I knew you would! I got it from a website, and the creator said they were free to use, so feel free to gack!

Thanks, I've been needing a hugging icon and this will do nicely! ;-)

I have no idea. I just found this on some icon journal and snagged it because I thought it was pretty and fitting for fall. It does look like an old church though, doesn't it?
