Linaewen's Lake of Small Birds

I can't even really fathom it, actually; assuming Faramir would not make an attempt on the Ring, then would Frodo have even decided to go on his own? He might have, but it would have been harder to come to that point. It boggles the mind, doesn't it? ;-)
