The word for the day is surfeit

I have a daily "word of the day" feature on my personal Yahoo page, and this is it:

surfeit
DEFINITION: (noun) an excess
EXAMPLE: Lin is having a surfeit of unexpected jobs and deadlines thrown at her today, and so she is experiencing a surfeit of annoyance.
SYNONYMS: glut, plethora, surplus

In the first edition of this post, I said I wasn't really all that annoyed, but I changed my mind after having the entire post lost just as I was posting it. I shall save it this time before posting so as not to add to my annoyance if it goes missing again. :-/

Anyway, I have indeed been saddled with a bunch of stuff that has to be dealt with "abhee" as we say in Urdu -- "right now" with the emphasis on the now. But it's also staff meeting day, and that means 2 hours when I can't be working on what has to be worked on. Go figure. ;-)

Guess I'll see how much I can accomplish in the next few minutes before it's time to go to my meeting. At least we get nice snacks there!
