We called home today -- home to Pakistan. It's been something we've unconsciously been avoiding, just because it still hurts a bit to not be there instead of here. My hubby did the talking, as the there isn't time on an international line for a lot of chitchat when there's business to be conducted; but I was there to listen to all the news, one-sided as the conversation was. It was good to hear someone speaking Urdu again, even if it was just my hubby!

Got a tear in my eye when I sent verbal greetings to my good friend and neighbor on our compound, Shirin. I miss her a lot! I need to write to her, and maybe even call her on my own. That would be great -- except I'm afraid I would cry. But that's okay, that's what friends do together sometimes when they are separated.

New goals for me now include:
- write letters on a regular basis (in Urdu) to my friends "back home"
- Send emails on a regular basis with news of our doings here
- Make a phone call now and then to talk with the "girls" instead of always just hubby talking shop with the guys
- Pray daily for them and their struggles and needs.

I'm glad we called, because it was good to hear about how they are doing, and now they know how to pray for us as well. We are all missing each other, yet we are also busy and fulfilled in what each of us is doing in our separate places, until we can get back together again. Even though we are separated by oceans and 9 hours of time difference, we are still together in spirit.

:-)

I can relate a great deal to that, dear (((Lin))), since I am 7 hours and oceans apart from many of my close friends too. It is always good to talk to them, seldom as it may happen. Seldom is better than nothing. ;-) I am actually planning on calling a couple of them this weekend, odd that you should post that about calling friends. It has been a few months since I talked with anything, and now I have something to tell them about. *grin* (Billy Boyd ;-).)

So glad you got to hear from them. *smile* ((((Lin))))
