A comment was made on the bulletin board at author Bernard Cornwell's website by a person who thought perhaps Sean Bean would not make a good Sharpe in the proposed new film, if indeed the film being made involves a young Sharpe (according to the rumor that it would be based on Sharpe's Tiger, the first of the Sharpe adventures that takes place when he is a new recruit).
In other words, this person considers Sean Bean too old.
Mr. Cornwell's reply, and I quote: "I feel Sean Bean is well-suited for the role of Sharpe - at any age."
Truer words were never spoken.
