Judging from the weather map, we should have some snow coming our way -- hope it's true!

The weather report reads:
Forty percent isn't very high as far as percentages go, but hope springs eternal in the heart of a confirmed Wisconsinite who misses her snow. It's January after all, it's not supposed to be warm enough to open the windows!
In other news, my boy didn't get the job he applied for at a local bookstore, but he didn't get the "saf jawab" either, as they say in Pakistan -- a euphemism for NO which translates as "clean answer." The manager said they had filled the position, but were saving Nathan's application for future times of need. That certainly could be a kind way of saying 'don't call us, we'll call you,' but Nathan felt positive about it. He sensed the manager was trying to be encouraging while saying he didn't know how long it might be before they had another opening. He was encouraged enough by not getting an outright no that he's ready to look for something else, and hope that a job in this bookstore might still happen one day.
I'm pleased, because he did an excellent job of sounding confident when he enquired about his application over the phone, and it is good to see him hopeful and cheerful, even though he didn't get it -- I think it will make applying for the next job a little easier. This job hunt thing is a whole new experience for all of us, and I want it to be a good one for him, that adds to his growth as an individual and doesn't make him more introverted and nervous of the strange world of America. ;-)
So hope springs eternal at my house, at least as far at all that goes. Whether or not I'll get anything useful ticked off on my List of Doom is another matter, which I am ignoring for the time being, so doesn't deserve a mention. ;-) Still, a little hope goes a long way around here, maybe some of it will rub off on that!
