Dust Of Snow

by Robert Frost

The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.

Lest you think I have been rueing the day today, I have not. In fact I have been feeling extremely chipper and I've been getting a lot done. But what I like about this poem is that it reminds me that when I AM rueing my day, a change of focus could be all it takes to change my mood and save that day by turning it into something promising.

I've had my fair share of glum, stressed out days of late, but not today. I'm wondering if it has something to do with getting away yesterday, out of town and away from the routine, for a short, but pleasant visit with my parents. I feel more relaxed, more energetic (odd to have those two together, but I think you know what I mean!) I shall have to plan more of those break-in-the-routine days, if that's all it takes to change my focus.

Kind of like that crow shaking a dust of snow down on me -- refreshing!

Speaking of snow, we have some now, at last. We had that kind of weather this morning for which Wisconsin is famous -- a thunderstorm with lightning that shook the house and at the same time a major snowstorm. It was lovely, now that we're not out driving in it. ;-)

May you all have something happen today that gives your heart a change of mood for the better! (((((My friends)))))

And if you didn't have your say yet, and want to, go here and tell me what you think:

The entire chapter of Romans 8 is good for putting things in perspective, isn't it? I'm thinking about verses 31 and 32 today, not to mention 37-38. ;-)

A lovely poem and excellent advice! *hugs* I have been so discouraged at work lately and feeling like my once wonderful opportunity has become a viper pit where noone is safe. There are very few people I can talk to openly and I was with three of the four of them this afternoon punch-listing the model homes. Eric and Allyson and I were getting pretty gloomy and Martin ever so gently reminded us that the way we were talking wasn't helpful. I wanted to give him a hug! I know that, so why do I ever forget it? Thank God for crows and Martins ;)

I love it when you are chipper. :)

And it's a lovely verse. I'm so glad you got the snow you were wishing for!
