linaewen: (Boromir Happy)
It's a blustery day here in Wisconsin, in the best Pooh tradition -- the kind of blustery that takes you by surprise and knocks you off your feet, that blows your hair about so that you are glad you didn't bother to wash it until AFTER your walk, the kind where the sky really wants to be overcast but it can't manage it because the wind keeps blowing the clouds clear so the glorious sun can shine forth -- though the clouds seem to be winning right now.

Things I am happy about today:

- God helped me see where I can make a change in my attitude that makes everything seem more balanced!
- I am beginning to make some progress in getting myself more organized, which can only be a good thing, hee!
- I took an envigorating walk this morning on the local bike trail, and the wet earth smell that comes after a rain was simply heavenly. And the blustery wind was nice, too -- it's just warm enough today that the wind is a blessing.
- Hubby found a decent bicycle in a dumpster and has fixed it up for me so I can start biking again, yay!
- Hubby is also talking about getting a Wisconsin parks sticker, then buying a tent and camping equipment of our very own, so we don't have to borrow it and can camp whenever we feel like it. I'm excited about doing some camping this summer!
- I have a wee creative niggle going in the back of my brain that leads me to believe that my writing days are not over and that a new Boromir chapter just might happen in the not too distant future.

I haven't been very good about keeping up with Back to Middle-earth Month, but it's always ME month for me, anyway, hehe. But here's a poem I promised to put up for [livejournal.com profile] my_cocoon, who is a fellow Tuor fan.

Alone he sat and mourned his kin,
A slave escaped, his people scattered.
No life, no purpose but to win
Revenge on evil, 'twas all that mattered.

Grey elves spoke of a hidden king.
His heart was stirred by the Elvish name
To seek that kingdom in his wandering;
He wondered why such desire came.

Tuor did not know he heard the call
Of Ulmo, who sought to aid elf and man;
Though long the years since Feanor's fall,
The time was right for Ulmo's plan.

Harp in hand, Tuor did play;
His sorrow eased, though not at rest.
The stream flowed out to show the way,
He read the sign and headed west.

The land of Turgon now he sought,
The Lord of Waters called to Tuor.
Stream's flow followed, finally brought
Him to lands he had never trod before.

The sea bird's cry, a mournful sound
That filled his heart with keen desire;
Following, the brink of Earth he found,
Above the Sea, the sun like fire.

Endless water beyond the shore,
Boundless yearning filled his breast;
Never was seen by man before
And never again would he know rest.

At last he came to an empty hall,
Forsaken by the Elven king.
There he found armor laid by the wall,
Decorated with white swan wing.

Shield and hauberk with sunlight lit,
Sword and helm were ready there.
He donned the armor, perfect fit.
"Upon myself whatsoever doom they bear."

Down to the sea-strand then he went,
Out at sea a storm's black cloud
Approached with speed, Valar-sent;
Before their wrath his head he bowed.

As he watched sun's smoky fire,
Great wave rolled towards the shore.
Ulmo walked, braved Valar's ire
To speak with mortal man Tuor.

Tuor was chosen a message to bring,
The Lord of Water's plan of old,
Finding Turgon, Elven king,
A warning of doom would to him be told.

Tuor, though mortal, chosen one,
Elvish wife would one day take,
Destined to father a special son
Who before the Valar a plea would make.

Bright Earendil, the son of Tuor,
One day to sail on journey long,
Pleading the cause of Middle-Earth at war,
His deeds forever lifted in song.

Tuor his yearning never forgot;
Ever desiring the sea's soft sigh,
To the West he sailed, the waves they brought
Him; alone of mortals he would not die.

And to finish the Back to ME month out right...

Guess that got to be more Lumba Mota (Long Fat) than Chota Mota (Small Fat), but as Boromir would say, "I care not!" :-D Guess I had more to share today than I thought, hehe. Have a great day, friends!

Beautiful poem, sweetie - I never got far enough in the Sil to know much of Tuor, but plan to remedy that when I can finally get all my books on shelves again ( countdown to July....)

Rich and I want to get bikes someday so we and Brynn can all go together.

I took a gorgeous walk on the beach today and found some clam and oyster shells - once I bleach them, I'll find a use for them. (((( M ))))

The beach -- ahhhhh! That's my favorite place to stroll, but I have to make do with the woods here. Still, that's not so bad. ;-)

Must be hard not having your books where you can get at them when you want them -- you are going to have fun in July! Get your LOTR books out first, though, and save Tuor for after you've had a wee refresher course in Arathorn and Gilraen. :-D But only if it will be fun, of course, no pressure.

THAT was subtle. *laughs*

Once Grima gets his game on, Arathorn, his child bride and wisecracking mom and father - and prescient future mom-in-law- are back on the front burner -promise!

Yes, yes, Grima first! :-D

*makes a note to go reread all those great stories in anticipation of future chapters*

Seriously, I mention Arathorn and Gilraen not to pressure you -- because I know begging readers aren't quite enough to do the trick with stalled writing sometimes -- but just to let you know I love your other stories as much as your current ones, you wonderful writer you, and will always be ready to read anything you write whenever you get a round tuit. ;-)
