I've been feeling unhappy with my journal look, particularly the tabbed header, which became painful to look at for some reason, whenever I came to my journal. I guess I was ready for a change, but was hesitant to spoil something that was well-established. But as Shakespeare says in Hamlet, "Our doubts are traitors which make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt." So I decided something had to be done. When I saw the journal style that
boriel used when she changed recently, I was very impressed, and tried it out myself, to see how well it worked with my theme.
Voila!
The only thing I'm irritated about is that I had chosen a lovely font called "High Tower Text" to use for the header and the sidebar -- appropriate, don't you think? -- but it doesn't seem to be one that is on all my computers, so I figured it is not on yours either. Alas!
Thanks to all who helped me during the process of switching over by giving me your opinion. If any of you have any comments on the current choice of colors or font, do let me know, and I shall look into it.
The next order of business with the journal is to see if I can get myself down to 30 icons (plus my bonus ones). I just don't use the full allotment I've been paying for, so why not see if I can reduce?
I did this journal changeover last night in the middle of the night while I sat with a hotpack on my back. Grrr. But it provided me with an excuse to do the late night laptop on the wireless network thing -- fun!

Date: 2006-05-03 02:18 pm (UTC)From:I know High Tower. A very pretty font, that, but it is a rare one. It's too bad we can't imbed our fonts as font objects like in Illustrator so that our LJ would show it like a graphic exactly as we wanted it to look. I am sure that capability will be available at some point. I have been impressed with how much more user friendly and up to date it has become in the year and a bit that I have had my LJ.
*Sends out another prayer for your back* Feel better! ((((Lin))))
