I slept very poorly last night -- no doubt due to late night coffee, pain, and many things on my mind. I'm feeling a bit like Boromir must have felt after being tossed by the cave troll!
But there's not time for naps just yet, I've got things to do. And coffee to drink so I can wake up enough to do them!
Just for fun, and because we used to do Flashback Friday here at LJ, I decided to check and see what I posted on this date last year. Amazingly enough, it's apporpriate for today!
Last year in May I was dealing with the List of Doom. ;-) Here's what I had to say....
I have an unbelievable amount of stuff to take care of today. I know I won't be able to do it all, so I am making a prioritized list. The first thing on my list will be to look at my list and not get sidetracked by doing things not on the list! ... There are [many] duties that ought to be considered -- but I can only include things on my list that won't affect my momentum, otherwise I'll be distracted and not get anything done enough to call it done. That's the hard part about multitasking -- I can do lots of things at once, but sometimes those things have to be done well!
Ah, well -- more coffee is in order, I think, to help me write my List of Doom.
Speaking of Lists of Doom...
Seduction of the Ring
The strength, the weapon
The needs of the valiant;
Be the Ring your strength,
Your weapon --
Go to victory
Well, coffee in hand, I go forth to victory over my List of Doom... I hope!

This is the English translation of the Quenya words sung during the scene on Caradhras when Boromir is being seduced by the Ring. These words parallel what Boromir has to say at the Council of Elrond, when he is arguing for using the Ring against Sauron instead of hiding it or destroying it:
'I do not understand all this,' he said. `Saruman is a traitor, but did he not have a glimpse of wisdom? Why do you speak ever of hiding and destroying? Why should we not think that the Great Ring has come into our hands to serve us in the very hour of need? Wielding it the Free Lords of the Free may surely defeat the Enemy. That is what he most fears, I deem.
'The Men of Gondor are valiant, and they will never submit; but they may be beaten down. Valour needs first strength, and then a weapon. Let the Ring be your weapon, if it has such power as you say. Take it and go forth to victory!'
FOTR, Book 2, Chapter 2, The Council of Elrond
