My boy is taking his driver's test tomorrow at 9:40 am CST.  I am praying he will actually pass the first time, because it would be such an encouragment to him.  He is really struggling right now, to the point that I am starting to look into getting him back on meds for ADD.

In other (good) news, I had a great time yesterday with [profile] solodancer.  It was lovely to talk, eat, pray and shop together.

In more other (not so good) news,  my foot is killing me.  How is one supposed to do anything when it hurts to walk? :-/

In even more other (not good) news, I am feeling generally grumpy and apathetic today.   Hope I can stop the bad mood by telling people about it, so they can pray for me.

Please do so, if you will.

Thanks, my dear. The silly foot is a real irritant; even knowing what to do for it, it takes time, and in the meantime -- ouch! And I suppose that makes everything else look grimmer than it might be.

Wow...Good Luck Nathan!

Re the ADD, is he just overwhelmed right now or do you think it was the move and all the new stimuli?

Glad you had fun with Sandy yesterday...I miss her posting here.

((((Lin))))) Hope your day improves significantly!

Thanks, love. *grateful hugs*

Re, the ADD, it's been gradually getting out of hand and I don't think it's going to get better by itself. He was coping, but it seems as he gets older, he can't anymore. We really are noticing it in everything he does or doesn't do. His driving is affected as well. Thankfully, we have been given some funds to use on getting this checked out, so we are going to do that. Right now, it's like he's bound by his inability to concentrate, and it's affecting his mood, because he can't even do what he loves doing.

Thanks for asking, guess I need to talk about this more! *more hugs*

I think it might help if you talk about it, Marg...I think you keep a lot inside that sometimes bogs you down as much as your List O'Doom...I don't mean you need to manically share like I do ( in fact, not sure I recommend that for anyone!) but letting us know when things are hard for you would allow us to be the kind of friend you are to all of us, more often. More reciprocal, you know?

I feel for Nathan...it must be so hard for him not to be able to focus on what he likes, like writing and things like that. I'd be miserable if I couldn't do that.

Hugs to both of you!

*hugs Lin and son*

I do pray that the Lord will help your son concentrate, understand, and remember the right answers. I also pray that he'll not fret, but trust God to help him with the written and the driving test, and that God will give him a peace that passes understanding to guard his heart and his mind in Christ Jesus.

I pray also for your foot, that the Great Physician will lay His healing, soothing hands upon it and bring comfort, and that He will anoint the medicines and therapies that you are using to relieve the pain.

I pray that God will gather your family into His arms and tend to you like a Shepherd, that He will hold you close to His heart, and that He will gently lead you and your husband as parents, and your son as His lamb.

*hugs again*

hard to be chipper when the pain escalates, don't I know it.
Be of good cheer lin. First the Cross, then the Crown.

Prayers aplenty for both you and your boy, dear ((((Lin))))!

About the ADD, I just thought of something that may or may not be of help to you. My father, a psychologist, has worked a fair amount with ADD before and I think he might be able to help your son. He never suggests medications; he always works for a 'natural' solution. Here's his website if you're interested: www.docpeter.com

Hope that foot of yours feels better soon too!!

We are trying some natural solutions, but we thought we'd check into the meds as well. My son responded well in the past to two different meds that are common for ADD, but has been off meds for 5 years or so.

I'll look into things at your father's site, thank you!

(((((You))))) Thanks for everything!

My nineteen year old nephew has had challenges from ADD since early childhood. He has been on several medications over the years and they did help him, some more than others. But now that he is an adult he has found his own balance by using drug therapy as needed, but also managing his diet and keeping a predictable schedule. He is away at college now and my brother and sis-in-law went to see him and take him and his roomie out for lunch. When they got back it was the time he had scheduled himself for study so he said "thanks for coming Mom and Dad" and then he cracked the books. They were amused that he kicked them out, but also proud because they knew he was doing what works for him. Regular moderate exercise also seems to help him.

I will pray that the driving test goes beautifully, and that Nathan with your support and the expertise of his doctor will find what works for him to gain his own balance.

As for you, may you find some relief from the foot pain and some inspiration to lift that apathy!

Thank you, my dear.

A predictable schedule is definitely something we need to get working around here, for all of us, but mostly for Nathan.

You know I will, in my own special way.

*hugs you ever so tightly*

I'd love to call you, maybe we could set aside a time this week? I have off Thursday...

And I'm sorry about the sore feet! I'm having the same problem this week. *commiserates*

Oh! A Thursday chat would be just the thing! It's still my most free day, like when it used to be my day off. You know best when you are free so just let me know what works for you. Do you have my Verizon cell phone number that begins with 608?

Thanks for your special thoughts, my love!

Date: 2006-05-23 08:51 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] samarra.livejournal.com
I'm not sure if I have that one or not? Can you email it to me again?

I'll be in and out all day Thursday running errands...so name a good time, and I'll be sure to be home!

*smooches*
