First of all, GIP! I've been wanting to use this, so why not today, for Goal Monday? Perhaps this icon should say Stupid List of Doom, though, to fit with a goal Monday, hee! However, in spite of what it may seem, I don't mind having a List of Doom, and I am cheerfully looking forward to getting some things accomplished this week -- even today, though it's after noon already! I always do better if I have goals written out, even if I don't accomplish them and even when they become burdensome, so here is what is on my big D list (D for Doom) for the week:
- grocery shopping today
- visit my inlaws today (on a whim I called and asked if they needed any groceries, and they did, so I will pick them up and deliver them, and likely stay for a chat)
- be more faithful at doing my daily reading in my Urdu Bible to keep my language skills up (and that means DAILY)
- contine to whittle away at the paper/book/magazine-infested flat surfaces in the house, as well as other cleaning projects
- write a long-overdue newsletter
- start practicing my viola daily (particularly now that the weather is such that it keeps going out of tune and regular playing will do it good)
- visit Chicago with Hubby on Thursday on a survey trip, to start planning what kind of ministry/work we'll be involved in when we move there
- narrow down the possibilities of which doctor to go to in town, and choose one
- make appointments with said doctor for checkups
- start planning menus for when I have to cook for 50 people end of July at a training thingy in New Jersey
- get more exercise -- daily walks, when it isn't raining, and biking as well
- read Sharpe
- write Boromir
First things first, though, and that means LUNCH!

Date: 2006-06-26 05:50 pm (UTC)From:I don't remember knowing you were a musician. I love te viola! I played French horn once upon a time, but when I found out (at first) that I couldn't be an artist for a living, I decided I had to give up the guilt of not having French horn for a hobby. I sold it, cried for a week, and I still regret it sometimes. I figure when I retire I can always buy a new horn and start from scratch. They are always needing horns for community bands. I still sing though, which is a lot cheaper and more portable ;).

Date: 2006-06-26 06:00 pm (UTC)From:I'm not a particularly amazing player or anything, but I did achieve first chair in high school and did decent at contests and such. Not having my own viola after leaving high school, I got out of practice. I picked up a violin and "fiddled" with that for awhile, but it's not the same after getting used to a viola -- and the violin got eaten by bugs in Pakistan!
Now I am determined to get to be a decent player again, simply because I know all it takes is regular practice. And I do love it.
Sorry, long answer. *grins* I shall have to do a music post one day.
Thanks for being ready with the flares!

Date: 2006-06-26 06:18 pm (UTC)From:Yes, they do, for lots of things -- but the termites usually get it in the end. The violin was in storage -- in a wooden box, duh! and that was that. The termites also took out my oldest copy of LOTR trilogy. I wish I had taken pictures, it was a real mess. I saved some of the violin pegs just for fun -- and I still have the termite-tracked rosin!

Good luck with the LOD. My own list is quite short and is usually complete with 'getting out of bed before 11am'! *chuckles*
