Seems like I've been in our car a lot lately.  Thursday we drove down to Chicago for lunch with a special friend who was part of our "family" in Pakistan, Friday we drove to Iowa to spend time with my sister, and today we are visiting my parents.  Not sure when we'll get home today.  It's been a good weekend of spending time with family.

It's going to be a scorcher this week in my neck of the woods, with high temps and high humidity -- my least favorite combination!  Having lived in a very dry climate where temps climbed well over 100 degrees on a regular basis, I can say with authority that humidity really does affect things adversely.  Ick.

*prays that our feeble apartment AC will hold out for the week*

*makes note to pick up lots of Powerade for DS who has to deliver newspapers in this heat, and will wish more than ever that he lives in Alaska *

But it gets really cold out there and he may wish that he was back somewhere where it is hot.

LOL! That is right! Your son loves the cold. I can imagine the heat and humidity is not his favorite thing. It's like that here, too. It is stifling and hard to breath just walking out to the car.

Fortunately there is good A/C wherever you go in Raleigh, unlike Upstate NY where many places still don't have airconditioning. My apartment in NY didn't have it. The summer months are just as hot there as they are here, it is just not as long and sometimes A/C isn't considered a good investment. Also I guess that almost everything in Raleigh is new construction while NY has many beautiful older buildings that are hard to convert.

I have sent a request that your A/C manages to power through the hot season with flying colors.

I am glad you have had a nice family weekend! I like car trips because they are good enforced togetherness, too. When at home I find it is easy to think I need to be doing this or that and I don't always spend time just conversing with my loved ones.

*bows* hey, this is going to be totally independent of your entry.

i just wanted to say thanks, for your kind words to candi, and for being so cool. she needs lots of friends like you, and i hope all the rest take from the letter what you did. if only everyone could understand and be as kind and caring.

so that's pretty much it, just a thanks. thanks for being her friend, being unconditionally supportive, and loving her no matter what.
