linaewen: (Boromir Bad Day by El Jay iconmaker)
I've been home from my travels since late Tuesday, so I thought I'd better give you all an update on what I am up to and how things are going.

My DS and I went to our first WW meeting yesterday.  It was great fun!  DS felt comfortable and even participated, and the folks there were very welcoming. By waiting until this week, we got a deal with the new monthly plan they are offering, so Hubby is happy, too. I spent the rest of the day reading through my materials and finishing the signing up process online, and making notes on how many points I used in the day.  So far so good!  Unfortunatetly, I forgot and left my umbrella there, so will have to make a special trip on another day to fetch it. But maybe I'll look over some of the WW goodies they have on sale, while I am there.

I am hoping to get some things done today, like laundry and grocery shopping, but I am not feeling very well.  I am suffering with some kind of skin allergy that seems to have resulted from a reaction to sunscreen I used to prevent a burn at the beach last week.  Well, I got burned anyway (though just lightly), but I also have this allergic reaction to deal with now.  It was getting better until yesterday, but now has gotten worse all of a sudden and it's all I can do not to scratch the itchiness.  It's especially bad on my arms  and legs right now, and the itchiness makes me feel a bit sick, not to mention the wooziness from all the antihistamines I am taking.

Other than this infernal itching, I am doing well!

It rained a lot yesterday and this morning, but now it is nice and cool, so that helps.  I hope I will feel up to a walk later!

Thinking of you all -- I'll get back here later in the day and let you know it with replies to today's Flist journal entries.

I was waiting to see an update from you, thanks for taking a few minutes to let us know how you are doing! I had seen you on my LJ and other's LJ's responding so I knew you were around, but I was wondering if maybe all your traveling lately might not have worn you down. Either that or catching up on your at-home list was taking all your efforts.

I do hope you get that skin allergy under control. If it is worsening should a doctor take a look at it? Meanwhile treat yourself tenderly. That sort of thing takes more out of you than you might expect!

Congratulations to you and your DS for starting on WW! I shall be joining in with all of you as soon as I am able. I am glad to hear Nathan was comfortable and felt free to participate.

Feel better, my dear! ((((Lin))))

Sorry to hear all of that.

A good weekend to stay indoors and watch...say...oh I dunno....SERENITY

Remembering you!

Hey....good for you with the WW thing. We've got a branch at the hospital, but so far I haven't felt motivated to join. No time.

Speaking of no time. I don't think I'm gonna be able to come up today. I am going to go into work (shortly, I hope) and then I have to drive the afternoon route from school. Then I have so many things to get accomplished around here. ::sigh::

We'll do it sometime. I promise. Just not today.

That's okay. I'm not feeling all that great anyway, so I'll be a better companion at another time, I'm sure!

Praying you can get on top of all that is fussing you, and that today is a good day for you!

Itchies can drive us crazy! Something that help ease an itch (temporarily) is soaking in hot water, or running hot water over the affected part. Hot water treatments, as needed, really soothed my poison ivy itching as a child.

Sorry to hear about the itching -- ugh! I once had a case of poison ivy all over my face so bad that one eye was swollen shut. I must have looked frightful enough to scare the dead, lol. Infernal is the word!

Glad to hear the good news about WW, though -- great that you and DS can go together and have fun! Will be thinking of you and hoping that all sickness and wooziness soon goes away. :-)

Oh, dear, Lin! I hope the reaction gets better soon.

One thing that might help, in addition to your antihistamines, is Aveeno oatmeal bath. It's available in various forms, but what helps my daughter (she-with-the-ultra-sensitive-skin) most is the packet of powder dissolved in a tubful of water, then soaking for 20 minutes or so. It doesn't smell wonderful, but it sure does help. I think she's also found a shower gel and a bar soap, but soaking every few hours seems to help her more than the other products. It should be available at your local supermarket, pharmacy, or Wal-Mart.

I agree with whoever suggested seeing a doctor. If you've been on an antibiotic, you may have developed photosensitivity so that you're "allergic" to direct sunshine for a time. Hopefully not time, times, and half a time.

*hugs, brownies, and blessings*

Are you sure it's an allergic reaction?

It's such a good idea to do WW as a family...better odds of succeeding!

Sorry! It's me!

Congrats on joining WW. It is a really great and supportive program. I work with a couple of people, but of which reached their goal in about 6-8 months. Each one lost over at 50 pounds each.

Hope you allergy clears up soon, that can be a real pain.
