My dad and his pneumonia
Feb. 8th, 2005 01:55 pmI thought I wasn't going to have too much to say today, other than the usual tales of laundry and dust flying from Hubby working with old wallpaper and wall repairs, but I learned today from my mom that my dad is in the hospital.
He actually spends quite a lot of time there, as he has this recurring type of pneumonia that lurks in his body and every now and then it flares up and the only way to quell it is for him to spend at least 10 days in the hospital with IV's administering a special antibiotic every so many hours. The doctor's had his eye on him recently, but thought it was just "normal" pneumonia, but a chest x-ray showed no improvement, so they carted him off to the hospital straight from the doctor's office.
Hopefully, he'll respond well to the treatment -- he usually does -- and come home in good shape. His heart has been good lately, and though he is getting feeble, his health has been okay now that they seem to have his medication straightened out. But this pneumonia thing is a real problem for him, and a big worry for my mom.
For myself, I'm okay -- worried, but not frightened. I'm trusting he will be better soon and back home where he wants to be, but I have to admit it is worrisome, as well. I'm just glad I'm at least in the same country as he is, now when he is not doing so well! Nothing makes you gnaw your nails with fretting like having a parent be ill when you are on the other side of the world, and stuck there.
Just thought I'd share that bit of news from home. ;-)
