A step in the right direction
Mar. 21st, 2005 02:10 pmMy boy is once more a student -- extremely part-time, at this point, but a student nonetheless.
I went with him today to complete his application process to the local community college. We were able to do everything in just a few hours -- he was able to waive the placement test since he had sufficiently good grades in English and Math from his other school, and he was able to get the class he wanted. It is in the evening, however, but that might work out better for him at this point. Hopefully this is the first step to getting him back up and running and the next stage in learning to cope with life in the US. It'll be a whole new experience for him, but I believe he can handle it.
His class of choice is Introduction to Philosophy, so I foresee many interesting and enjoyable discussion times ahead! ;-)
That was my main goal for the day, and seeing that it was accomplished so thoroughly, I have hopes that some other things planned for the day will pan out as well. They are all of a boring, decidedly mundane nature involving deadlines, office stuff and housework, so I will not list them here, lest you all go to sleep. :-D
