linaewen: (Arrival at Rivendell)
We're at the inlaws and getting ready to leave on our deathly long drive from Wisconsin to Eastern PA. Ugh. It should be a good day for driving, and we have the best of cars to do it in, but even the best of days in a Buick LeSabre gets dull after more than 6 hours. This trip has been known to take as many as 20 hours, so I have no idea when we'll get home tomorrow. Nathan is ready for us to come, he's been dealing with eccentric guests and is having hissy fits, from what I can tell over the phone.

I have spent a lot of time today on my inlaws' computer trying to get it virus free, but it still seems to be letting a few in. I suppose it needs some security patches or something, guess I'll have to look into that. Seems like my entire vacation has been spent helping parents with their computer woes. Since when did I become a computer wiz? :-D

Better go help pack, hubby thinks I'm in here looking up locations for Flying J truck stops in Indiana. ;-)

Love to you all, see you again when I return to the East!
linaewen: (My City)
I'm home again in PA, after a 15 hour and 15 minute drive. It really was not a bad drive at all -- I guess sitting in a nice car makes a big difference! Neither hubby nor I are all that worn out, even though we got up at 4 am, and left early. We stopped at intervals yet still made good time, and were home early enough that it wasn't bedtime yet.

Looks like I'll be hitting the ground running starting tomorrow, though. Don't you just hate it when vacations have to end so ubruptly? There's no time for an "afterglow." I was hoping for a quiet day tomorrow, to catch up with things slowly, but no such luck. I've got guests coming out of the woodwork, an unexpected staff meeting tomorrow, plus a departmental lunch (that'll be fun, anyway), emails from Pakistan to answer, and a poor lonely son who is following me about like he hasn't seen me in weeks. Which he hasn't. ;-)

Ah, well, koi baat nahi as they say in Pakistan -- or as Boromir might say, no matter! We'll see it done, and hopefully it will be relatively painless.

See you all tomorrow, if I can get a word in edgewise.
