Sharpe update
Sep. 7th, 2005 10:18 pmI waiting for something momentous and noteworthy to report in my journal, but nothing like that came along today, worse luck. ;-) Soooooo... just so I don't go days and days without reporting in, I'll fall back on a Sharpe update.
Here's what I read in Bernard Cornwell's journal, the author of the Sharpe novels -- first the old news, then the newer news:
[from a question posted on June 7]
A: I've asked the 'expert' on all things Sharpe (Chris Clarke at the Sharpe Appreciation Society) to fill us in on these rumours and here is what she had to say "the news so far is that the new film will be called 'Sharpe's Challenge', will be set in India in 1817 and hopefully will be in production back end of this year. The producers and director Tom Clegg have just returned from doing a recce in Rajastan, India to look over locations etc., they are very optimistic about filming although nothing is still confirmed. The only other news is that both Sean Bean and Daragh O'Malley have been signed up to appear in the new film if it goes ahead." So there you have it - and as far as the casting for extras? Alas, I have no say in the matter, sorry!
So it looks like Harper will be in the film if this pans out. Wheee! It just wouldn't be right without Harper.

Q: I was just reading through the FAQ page and heard that a new film was going to be made. I was just wondering will Sean Bean still play Sharpe?
A: Yes!
Just so you know. ;-)
