Almost leaving
Jul. 18th, 2007 01:03 pmI have finally done my duty at the inlaw's garage sale, and finished all my last minute errands -- like buying TSA approved locks so I can lock my luggage, and quart-sized Ziplock bags so I have one to put all my liquid products in for my carry on. Not that I have very many, but better to play by the rules than lose my goodies and my prescription drugs because they aren't packed correctly. Now I have the rest of the afternoon to scramble like a madwoman dealing with last minute things I forgot to put on my list.
I board the bus to the airport at 5 am, so I'll have to be up before that. I'll arrive in plenty of time for the security gauntlet -- which, if it goes as usual, will take me all of 5 minutes, and then I'll be sitting waiting for 2 hours before I can board the plane. But after traveling internationally for so many years, having to wait with time to spare is a pleasure and very good for the blood pressure. I've got a copy of RotK with me for my reading pleasure and I'm sure I can find me some Starbuck's coffee and something sweet to go with it to tide me over until boarding.
My cooking gig doesn't actually begin until Sunday, but I'll be available to help the current cook once I arrive and get settled. After the rat race of this week, I shall be glad to get away, even if it is just to work hard in another place. It's a different kind of work and had its rewards, and doing anything out of the routine is relaxing in a way. I just hope it's not going to be too hot and humid in New Jersey this coming week!
Anyway, not sure when I'll be online next -- it could be soon, or it could be ages, depending on when I am free and how many people I have to fight to get a dialup phone line. But I shall look in when I can! If you want me, email me, because that will be the thing I will be checking first when I do get online; dialup there is not always conducive to LJ graphics and such, so I might not be able to get here even if I get time away from the frying pans.
As Gandalf would say: Look out for me, especially at unlikely times! Good-bye!
And as Pooh would say: TTFN! Tah tah for now!
