linaewen: (My Help Comes from the Lord)
I am feeling distinctly headachey and tired today, but it's my own fault and I'm not sorry!

:-)

Let's just say I spent more time than was good for me on the new Fanclub Message Boards. I have to say that, while I see clearly the disadvantages as compared to some of the ease of use of the old boards, I am feeling rather fond of them already. They are different, but it didn't take me long to figure out most of the gadgets, and that made it feel more like a place I could work with. Kind of homey, in fact.

I'm rather excited about getting Boromir over there, so I'll have to try to curb my enthusiasm long enough to do some writing. :-/ I am reminded of the days when I first discovered the message boards in the first place. I was researching Decipher to see if I wanted to spend the money on the Fanclub, and discovered the discussion board. Well, that was all she wrote as far as I was concerned -- I was involved 24/7 there for awhile. I'd never been on a board before, just barely had learned how to use the internet, but to be able to talk with fellow "fanatics" about Tolkien and the films was a dream come true.

For some reason, I am reminded of the following Psalm, maybe because of the "going out and coming in" involved in going to a new place...

A song of ascents.

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills-
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD ,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip-
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over you-
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will keep you from all harm-
he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

It's one of my favorite Psalms, I always turn back to it for comfort and hope.

Lin, you've been such a great support (indirectly) to me during this transition to the new boards. I don't know if you (or I) realized it at first but to have someone who is willing to step ahead and take on these new things enthusiastically like you have done is an immense help. I know I need to work on that myself.

And I just love that psalm. Beautiful icon as well.

Thanks. (((LIN))) (and y'know, I stayed up far too late last night on those new boards too!)

I'm glad I could be of some help to you. Once I got over my own hesitations this past weekend, I decided I was going to enjoy myself and not let it bother me. I have found in my experiences with CHANGE that cheerfulness is the best way to cope! And it rubs off on people. :-) It helps to have my friends with me, and I am glad you jumped right in to join me there!

It was kind of fun being the first, LOL!

I'm excited that I finally got in over there on the boards. I haven't been able to log in for awhile, so it is good to see that my log in info now works on the new board.

Oh happy day!

P.S. Lin, we all love you so much! Such a shining star sparkling out from the Lake of Little Birds called Linaewen.

I'm so glad you were able to get back in; one more reason to be happy for new Boards! Thanks for your encouragement, my friend!
