linaewen: (Book in the Hand of Adam)
GIP!  :-D

I made a couple of icons last night, on a whim, because I thought I needed a bit more variety in my userpics.  This one I'm using for this post is a good picture of how I'm feeling these days, lol!  Trying to catch time for myself while at the same time remaining ready to jump is making life interesting.  My Hubby is unexpected at the best of times, but these days he's positively popping with energy and spontaneity and ideas, and I never know when I'm going to have to draw myself out of what I am reading or writing in order to pay attention, because an answer more than just "Hmmm!" is required.  ;-)  My DS is also chipper these days (he gets more chipper the colder it gets), and that means he's more talkative.  I can sometimes get by with mumbled answers, but not always.

Sometimes I just have to lose my cool and say, "Just give me a minute, okay?  I'm in the middle of something!" -- and they usually listen, at least for a minute.

In the meantime, I remain watchful whenever I sit down for a breather....

Today's multitasking includes getting Wisconsin driver's licenses so we can register to vote -- nothing like waiting until the last minute, is there?  I know there is more than that on my multitasking plate, but I can't think of what it is!  I imagine someone will pop up and let me know eventually, especially if I sit down with a book, hehe!

Here's hoping that all of my dear ones have calm days today, that don't involve too much being on one's guard!

ETA:  Ah, yes!  Today is "test the fire alarms in the apartment" day.

*prepares herself for intermittent and loud Red Alert noises that come unexpectedly even when they are announced ahead of time*

Sitting down with a book is a sure-fire way to attract attention! It is like, inviting an interruption!

You'd be better off dressing up as like one of those German guys with the little pants and ledderhosen and climbing up on a table with a lampshade on your head... everyone would be sure to avoid you, then! LOL!

*ponders*

Perhaps a book holder rigged into the inside of the lampshade...

There is much logic in what you suggest, lol!

oooh, adrenaline rush day. I had a coworker once who thought it was hilarious to sneak up on me and push my chair really hard. I even went so far as to tell him that I knew he was being friendly but I don't really like to be scared. He said, "the adrenaline rush is good for you." ok. So much for the rational approach. I suppose it is good for you if you need to lift a flipped car off your child or run away from a bear - or get out of an actually burning building. heh

I love the new icons! They are so expressive!

So... did you ever smack that guy? I can remain cool (usually) when being interrupted, but sudden jerks of my chair are invariably following by uncontrolled lashing out. ;-)

This tv character vied with Boromir for my attention for a long time -- and though Boromir finally won out as my favorite fictional dude, Adam Cartwright is right up there.

Drat, the alarm just went off and I jumped a mile, lol!
