linaewen: (Bean Eyeglasses by fraoch_icons)
My DS and I had eye appointments today.  It's been awhile since we'd been checked and we knew we both needed a change in our prescription.  My old glasses had gotten quite scratched over a period of time, so I was happy to see them go.  We got the whole gamut of tests -- retinal photos, dilation and glaucoma check -- which has us both headachy and bleary-eyed.  On top of that, we got our new glasses in an hour, so we are breaking them in.

*squints*

I was going to try to save money and not get new frames, but I had to, as mine turned out to be breaking, and were too old to be fixed.  (Supposedly.)  So I found some I liked -- a bit more squarish and actually purple if the light catches them right.  The comment from my family?  "Hey, you look like your niece!"

Since my niece is 13, I'm taking that as a compliment, lol!  She does actually look a lot like me, and has purply glasses, so I guess that fits.  I'm taking it as comfirmation of how youthful I look.  ;-)

I shall try to get a picture up sometime, but first I want to get my hair cut.  That is on the list for the weekend, perhaps.  After that, it's the dentist on Monday, and then I will be all squared away with all my exams.  Yay!

I think I'll give my new eyes a break from the computer and go feast them upon my new Boromir, who arrived today.  He's not even out of his package yet!

I need to get new glasses but first need to get an eye check-up. Mine work fine! But the prescription is too old to be refilled, and my glasses are in not such a great condition. So I envy you your new specs, and will look forward to pictures.

You sound really good! LOL, it is an accomplishment to get through all those needed appointments, isn't it?

I can't believe you delayed gratification and didn't open up Boromir's box right away!!! Is he wonderful???

He is pretty wonderful, lol! His clothing is amazingly detailed (accurately so) -- though it's a bit stiff and bulky, which makes him look uncomfy like he's been forced to dress up when he wants to wear his grubbies! I had to do a repair with needle and thread on his sword belt, and his Elven brooch needs to be better attached, but otherwise it's all amazing. The detail in his Horn and sword, etc. is excellent. And his face is very nice. ;-)

I am hoping a Boromir conversation will be suggested by the Muse, as he gets introduced to the others on the shelf. :-D

*claps happily* I do hope for a Boromir conversation - and don't think I hadn't thought of that the moment you mentioned the new arrival. ;)
