  • Roadwork on the street opposite one's house is irritating at any time of the day, but when it begins at 5 am, then that's just downright unfair.
  • I'm wearing a sweatshirt today.  It's June.  When is the warm weather going to start?
  • On the other hand, the day is gorgeous in its coolness.  A good day for a walk, if I can get past all the roadwork machinery.
  • Our catalpa trees are blooming, and dropping white flowers all over the place.  Lovely!  There doesn't seem to be much of a smell to them, unless one gets right up and sticks the nose in a flower -- but then they remind me of the jasmine bush we used to have in Pakistan.  Doubly lovely!
  • Speaking of bushes, my dad let us dig up some of his interesting shrubbery for our own yard.  One selection is what he calls Highbush Cranberry, also known as Vibernum.  It makes me happy to think I have something from the yard where I spent most of my time as a youngun growing up.  My dad was a botany major and horticulturist, so we had the most interesting back yard on the block -- lots of trees and bushes and organized wildness.  It's hard to think of that being gone when they eventually sell the house and move away.
  • *vows to take a camera to take pictures of the old back yard at her earliest opportunity*
  • which will be next week, I guess.  Next Sunday I'm taking my son (it will be his 24th birthday) and we are meeting my aunt at an old country church to take part in the Welsh Gymanfa Ganu (hymn sing) and the te bach which follows.  I'm not up on my Welsh, but I'm assuming that refers to something involving cookies.  ;-)
  • Everywhere I look I keep finding something I ought to be doing or something I intended to do but forgot.  Lots of good stuff is going on my List of Things to Be Attended To.  I'm feeling quite upbeat and in control, however, and organized and energetic enough to deal with it, so I shall begin at the beginning and proceed to the end.  In just a bit.  When I've had some coffee and perused my flist...
  • I have pretty much recovered from my bout with the sun allergy last week.  I still have have some itchiness, but not anything like what I had before.  Now the trick will be enjoying the summer and the sun without getting burned like that again.

Well, that's probably enough randomness for a morning.  Time for that coffee and maybe a wee smackerel of something to go with it.

Have a lovely day, my dears, even if it seems random!

I think they just wanted an early lunch. They were done by 11 am. Thank goodness, because it was 6 hours of very loud racket all morning!

I'll try to post them when I get them. I forgot to mention in the post that the plan is to stop at my folks again after our hymn sing, so I'll have opportunity this weekend. Hope the weather is conducive to photos!
